Eagle’s Crag Kurseong sits high on a steep cliff overlooking the beautiful Teesta River. It offers a stunning 360-degree view of the surrounding valleys and the distant plains of Siliguri. At the very center of the park at Eagle’s Crag Kurseong, you will find the historic Shaid Smarak. This tall monument honors the brave Gorkha soldiers who sacrificed their lives. The area is quiet, clean, and incredibly green, making Eagle’s Crag Kurseong the ideal place for meditation or nature photography.
If you want the absolute best experience, you should plan your trip to Eagle’s Crag Kurseong between March and May, or between September and November. During these months, the sky is crystal clear, and the weather is very pleasant. You do not want to visit Eagle’s Crag Kurseong during the heavy monsoon season in July and August. The rain makes the steep paths very slippery, and thick fog will completely block your view of the mountains.
Traveling to Eagle’s Crag Kurseong is an adventure of its own. If you fly into Bagdogra Airport, you can hire a taxi for a scenic drive up the hills that takes about two hours. Alternatively, you can take the famous toy train from New Jalpaiguri directly to the Kurseong station. Once you arrive in the town center, Eagle’s Crag Kurseong is only a short walk away. The road is very steep, so you must wear comfortable walking shoes.
